Stampede
The Calgary Stampede is an annual rodeo, exhibition, and festival held every July in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The ten-day event bills itself as ‘The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth’ and features one of the world's largest rodeos and Chuckwagons races. Competitors travel from all over the world to participate. Shot between 1976 and 1978 these photos give a flavour of the skill, danger and excitement of the event.
The photographs were taken before the advent of autofocus cameras.
The camera used was a Nikon F fitted with an F36 motor drive. The lens was a 400mm Novaflex. Film - Ektachrome.
